I saw this dramatic scene unfolding on a drive home from Denver one spring evening, and pulled off the highway and went to the first spot I could think of to get an unobstructed view of Pikes Peak; a high hilltop in the midst of Colorado Springs. The way it’s cropped helps give the illusion of it being in some remote location or taken with a long lens, neither of which is true.
