The morning was overcast with heavy looking clouds at Maroon Lake near Aspen, CO. Then, as I was at the lake waiting hopefully, the sky began to open up, and the Maroon Bells mountains emerged from the clouds in a stunning display of light and shadow. I captured this image at the lake as the sun illuminated the high peaks.
